Hi Luis. I always think of you, but especially at this time of year. Contratulations on you new son. I'm very happy that you have moved on with your life, yet still keep Alyson's memory alive. Good luck with the Rhianna and Brown case - you were wronged and those responsible for your injuries and damage to your property should be held accountable for their actions.

Luis, just checking in. You and Alyson are in my thoughts, you have had a positive influence on my life. Our life on Earth is just a speck of time, but so important. Thanks for being there...

Luis; I was so excited to stumble across your photo site at work this AM. I'm a former police officer(25 yrs) and was assigned to 6th Security Forces at MacDill for 6 months after 9/11. I fell in love with the Tampa Bay area. I also had opportunity to meet some awesome brothers and sisters from Tampa PD and HCSD. I would love to move back to the area but Momma is a New England girl thru and thru. :) Anyway, your photos and the internet keep me in touch with the Bay area, as does listening to 103.5 in the AM at work. Thanks so much and great photos. :) Didn't mean to ramble. Retired cop, George LaPenta--Massachusetts

You do have a great website, I am also a photographer with my own business and new to the Tampa Area. I am looking for someone to join me in a few photo shoots. I've had a little trouble trying to find good locations to take outdoor pictures. It seems like you know Hillsborough County very well.
Thank You

Dear Luis and friends and family of Alyson,

My daughter is also one of Doug Letson's patients. She was diagnosed at age 8, and had an ankle replacement performed by Dr. Letson in 1998. She was able to survive her cancer because we luckily caught it early.

We attended a golf tournament benefit tonight for the Amandalee Fund put on by Dr. Letson. My daughter spoke at the awards dinner about her fight with this disease.

Alyson's picture was part of the slide show that Dr. Letson shared to show the devastating effects of this disease that takes the lives of so many young people.

My thoughts and prayers go out to you all tonight and I wanted you to know that Alyson's light and spirit lives on in this fight and her life still has great meaning to people you will never even know and who never were blessed to know Alyson. Thank you on behalf of my own daughter for this site which bears witness to the strength and courage of one young woman on behalf of all sarcoma patients.

With deepest sympathy and prayers for all of you,

Jane

I met Alyson at moffitt when my brother was going through surgery and chemotherapy. Alyson and Danny had the same surgery done the rotoplasty. She is and will always be an inspiration in my brother and our familys life. She made sure that nobody gave up there fight with this ugly monster. We will miss her forever she was a blessing to have in our life for as little as we did. Words can't describe how wonderful she is. I know she is watching over my brother as he is fighting for life now that his cancer has reached his bone and he is on trial meds. I know she will comfort and do whatever is possible. Just keep having faith. Love you guys and always remember!!

Luis.

I just stumbled upon your page and can't tell you how Allyson's story shook me. It made me remember what is good about life. She was so brave, and kept a sense of humor about her trials. She definitely played her role in life. You never know how much this can do for other people. This could have been her reason for living. You should publish the pictures and progression of her ordeal. It is really life-changing, and can help others.

I've had some close deaths in recent years too with my sister and my dad, but the whole ordeals were little compared to Al's. You did a great and noble deed sticking by her for that long. Many people would have fled. That drains alot out of you. It seems that you kept her afloat for a long time.

I can't say what I want to say about this. So instead of babbling, I'll grant you a job well down all together on the page relating to your saint of a girlfriend.

I just found this webpage today through Osteo-list. Alyson was an amazing young woman. It just breaks my heart that this young lady had to endure all the pain and suffering that she did. My 13 yr. old daughter has battled cancer twice. She was dx. with rhabomyosarcoma when she was 3 and Osteosarcoma when she was 10 (both in her leg). She is currently in remission. Her father died in March 2002 from Osteosarcoma...he was 37. So...cancer has definately touched our family in a horrible way just like yours. Alyson was a beautiful, brave, and strong young lady.

What an amazing site- I am left speechless by the photos and your love for Allison. The amount of courage that you posess is unimanigable. I have never been hit and moved by photography before viewing your site- you have done a marvelous job and, you should know, you have changed someones life- mine. Sometimes a person takes life for granted and doesn't know how fragile it is- just like many people on this site- including Allison. May she rest in peace and know that people are thinking about her and gain strength from her- I proudly wear a LIVESTRONG band in memory of the cancer patients, past, present and future.

Please keep up the outstanding work- the site is pure genius. I hope you get worldy attention!

God bless all of you. What a brave young woman. I am glad she is at peace, and I know she is in a much better place. She was fortunate to have such caring loved ones, and her loved ones were fortunate to have her.

The name Alyson reminded me of a song penned long ago by Canadian folk singer/songwriter Gordon Lightfoot....a tune titled 'Poor Little Allison'. It's not meant to be biographical in any way, shape or form but just an inspiring song of a strong individual who has a good sense of her place in the world.

Poor Little Allison.

Poor little Allison, standing in the night wind
Wishing out loud, turning her face to the summer rain
Poor little Allison, never had much going
Hard to forget, always in step with the world she's in

Never knowing, never feeling, showing so much pride
Never saying what she's thinking or feeling deep inside

Poor little Allison, dreaming of the right one
Laughing out loud, lost in a crowd of fairweather friends

- By Gordon Lightfoot from the album "Sit Down Young Stranger /If You Could Read My Mind".

I know my words won't take your pain but remember the years between her dash and someday they will make you smile.

How do you live your dash?

I read of a man who stood to speak
At the funeral of a friend
He referred to the dates on her tombstone
From the beginning... to the end.

He noted that first came her date of birth
And spoke the following date with tears,
But he said what mattered most of all
Was the dash between those years. (1934 -1998)

For that dash represents all the time
That she spent alive on earth...
And now only those who loved her
Know what that little line is worth.

For it matters not, how much we own;
The cars... the house... the cash,
What matters is how we live and love
And how we spend our dash.

So think about this long and hard...
Are there things you'd like to change?
For you never know how much time is left,
That can still be rearranged.

If we could just slow down enough
To consider what's true and real,
And always try to understand
The way other people feel.

And be less quick to anger,
And show appreciation more
And love the people in our lives
Like we've never loved before.
If we treat each other with respect,
And more often wear a smile...
Remembering that this special dash
Might only last a little while.

So, when your eulogy's being read
With your life's actions to rehash...
Would you be proud of the things they say
About how you spent your dash?

Stumbled on this story, and reminded(pointed in the direction) of the important things in life. Alison is a living angel and proves through her example that God exists. Anyone else stumbling on this site will be blessed by her story. So very sorry for your loss.

Take My hand, and let Me lead You over the river.
Let Me guide You over the narrow bridge..
Let Me show You the beauty wich rests on the other side.
That beauty,is Your True Self
"If tears could build a stair, and memories a bridge,
then I climd up high, to bring you back to me..."

That Poem is from a Lady in Belgium, she lost her Dad to Cancer.

Sorry for your loss Norbert

Luis, excellent documentary on the events that you and Alyson went through. I am sorry to read about how things ended but I agree that now her suffering and pain is over. I lost my sister to Cancer when she was only 6. I understand how you must feel.

Luis,
You have a wonderful gift of capturing the moment with your camera. I applaud your work and your artistry. I grew up in Tampa and am in the fire service so I love the pics! But what I love more are the beautiful photos that you share of Alyson. Like so many people, I was brought to your site via an email sharing your story. My thoughts and prayers are with you both. The strength of Alyson's character; the beauty and grace in her eyes are a very powerful lesson to us all. And your commitment to her is something that is so amazing. I'm praying that God gives Alyson, you and her family the peace that only He can deliver. If there is anything you need or desire, please do not hesitate to ask. It would be an honor.
