I would like to obtain permission to use one of your photos for my personal use. The photo is Howard's Creek Mill/late day. My ancestors built this mill and I grew up in a nearby farm house. I love the colors in this photo.

While researching information about mountain region of NC with my granddaughter for a school paper, we found your photos and was blown away by their beauty. You have enormous talent.

I discovered your photos when Googling Henry River Mill Village; I wanted to learn more about the abandoned town where The Hunger Games' District 12 was shot. From there I perused many of your galleries - such beautiful work!

Beautiful photography and vision of the talented and accomplished photographer.
Keep enjoying your journey, Diane.

Diane,

Just some great shots, you have the talent! As a newby G1/GF1 shooter I need to practice more. Would the Leica 45mm lens be a good addition?

Diane, I am in awe of your skill and talent. Your images are so diverse and all are a pleasure to view. I find myself studying each and every little detail. Your photographs inspire me to look at my surroundings with different eyes. At times I feel there is nothing here in Winnipeg Manitoba that hasn't been photographed a million times yet you make the mundane fascinating. It has warmed up a little and so I think I will go out and shoot tomorrow. It has been a while for me.

Stunning photographs! I love your composition and use of different lenses with the G1. I have a question for you as a G1 owner, I would like to know if my lensbaby composer for canon would be able to fit onto my G1 and what adapter I might need.

Will be definitley returning to see what else you have been up to!

Enjoying your images....also your comments on the Panasonic Forum of DPreview.

Hello Diane. I spent a little time in your galleries this evening and really enjoyed myself.... you have some very beautifully composed photos. I was also pleased to see the fine results you obtained with the Tamron 28-75 f2.8 on your 5D, especially since this lens was designed primarily for use on crop cameras. I will certainly be stopping, from time to time in the future. All my best regards, Michael.

Happened upon these gorgeous galleries, and they make me feel as if I am still using my old Kodak Brownie. I don't think I will live long enough to achieve what I have just witnessed. Just simply beautiful photography. Such mood and passion are displayed in each and every image that I viewed. Thank you for sharing them with us and me.

Hey, Diane! So you CAVED and bought the 20D, huh? You are SUCH A TROUBLE MAKER, LOL! Now I HAVE to buy one! I mean, if Diane gave in, I surely must! Did you keep the 10D? How about your D30? Pardon all the questions, but I've been very much out of the loop as of late, recovering from knee surgery (what a pain in the @ss! Walking on crutches STINKS, but limping is incredibly unattractive and limiting!) and trying my best to cope with this husband-leaving-me-for-another-woman thing, which is quite devistating after living with this man for about 33 years!

I read one post you mentioned that you had ordered the 20D, and I must admit I was shocked, since in the past you've exercised such control over buying cameras (unlike yours truly) ;) I was hoping to hold out for the next model up, especially since I am such an amateur and already have the 10D, but now I doubt I can do it. I mean, hell, if Diane caved, well ... how can such a crazt camera buyer such as myself NOT?

Anyway, sorry for the rambling. I just wanted to drop a quick note and say hello and happy Spring. You know I love your work and so appreciate your efforts to share information. You are a great artist.

Take care and till the next time, all the best,

;)

GREAT SHOTS Diane!!! It's one thing to see a shot in your mind, another to have the kind of equipment and know how to capture it correctly, but you go beyond both those with using the perfect framing to tie all three together! I really loved your photos, especially of your home area. You obviously love your property and maximize your gardening skills to enjoy greater viewing pleasure. Wish I had more of your obvious talents in both the photography and gardening areas. Keep up the super work. You're definitely an "Add" to my "Favorite Artists".

Dear Diane,

I have enjoyed stumbling upon your photographs and can recognize Hickory and maybe Granite Falls . I left Lenoir in 1965 and moved to Cape Cod and still feel an affinity for the western NC foothills and mountains. I go back ocassionally to Cajas Mountin to visit my brother and we usually head up to Blowing Rock and on todowntown Vilas if I'm lucky.
The pottery looks terrific as does your perenial gardens. Thanks for sharing.

Awesome use of the digital camera. I have a B&W darkroom in which I mainly develop infrared film and soft color by hand. I love your digital IR photos. Can you share the basic steps you take once you have taken dig IR pictures? I use my normal IR filters, & my little dig camera is old enough to allow the IR thru (has older CCD). But, I have not been able to conquer the Photo Shop darkroom process & actions to follow!
Thank you.

Infrared advise needed
I have a new Canon A70 camera. The filter I am using is a Tiffin #87 filter. It is black, and sees only IR light.
The results I am getting are very Infrared, indeed, but the focus is crap. How is it your pics are so sharp? I know the G1 does great IR...but still.....
Could it be the filter I am using is too much for the camera? I am going to get a r72 filter also.
Any ideas on how to focus? What do you do?

Nice work. Very nice eye.

I wouldn't mix color and b&w in the same, album however. And if you donate a few bucks ($20?) to Pbase you will be allowed to remove the page breaks and put all the images for each album on one page. A little easier for the viewer.

Diane, a friend forwarded me your website and the gallery with your pottery collection. I was stunned and thrilled to see my shino pots from so long ago. I saw your posts quite often in the OLY forum. I too have had an E10, now an E20. Thinking of buying the Canon D60 or Nikon D100...need speed for sports pics. etc. Any pluses/minuses you'd like to share would be helpful. By the way, your images are "fine"

Hey Diane, great shots. I see in dpreview, you have both an E10 and D60. I currently have an E10,seriously contemplatine pourchasing either the Nikon D100, or Canon D60. I am leaning towards the Canon. I am a serious hobbyist that will probably be working side by side with a wedding photographer (to learn the tricks of the trade) this spring. Do you absolutely "love" your D60? looking for an honest opinion.

Thanks Shawn

Hi. I saw your comment at dpreview. Pete Turner has been my favorite since I first saw his work back in the early 80's. My first impression of his work – I was mesmerized. Another one is Mitchell Funk (not sure if I have the name right - it has been awhile since I saw anything of his).

Time passes by so quickly. It has been months since I made my last visit here (either my favorites list has to be smaller or I'm going to have to get a faster connection – so many pictures to view). I definitely like your style and choice of subjects. Looks like you live in a great area for interesting photographs. You have the eye for it, so – may God bless you with even more grace to think, to see, to feel, and to appreciate the beautiful.

Very nice IR pics. As I am about to make a new digital camera purchase, I was wondering: how do you take your IR pics ? Does the camera need a special feature ? It seems people mention a filter (what does it do) ? What about the color and how does one remove it (on the camera or later through sopftware) ? Is there a easy solution for taking IR pics (not spending hours on photoshop etc..) ?
Thanks for your help and congrats for the beautifull pics.

I enjoy your work very much. I am interested in a D60 and would like your brief assessment, including, if possible, comparison to Nikon D100. Also, as someone new to digital SLR's, I would like short explanation for note at bottom of each photo, e.g. "35mm equivalent: 665mm" where actual focal length used was 109mm.

Thanks

Thanks for your message on the DPreview Canon SLR Forum.

I've been perusing your galleries and I have to say — WOW! Great images, particularly the IR work.

I've done a little BW IR in 35, MF and LF formats, but was always troubled by the lack of fine control over the images, though some were quite nice.

Seeing your work has gotten me excited about the possibility of using digital to work with IR again!

Thanks,

Hello, Diane-

My name is Nola Blanton, and I am a graphic designer in Denton, TX.
I am in the process of designing an environmental brochure for the College
of Arts and Sciences at the University of North Texas, and I'd like to
use your image "Single Echinacea" in it. It's a beautiful, vibrant image!

The brochure would identify you as the photographer with a copyright
credit in your name. Please let me know if it would be okay for me
to use the image. Upon completion, I could provide a sample of the finished print piece.

Thanks for your consideration!
