Message from Eino Huhtala
I have a great love for Southeast Asia, both peoples and cultures. I hope some of that comes across in these pictures. I've been lucky enough to have lived for a time in Thailand, Malaysia, Hong Kong and Taiwan over the last 25 years, or so.
These photo's are a distillation of mostly recent work (the last six or 8 years), and all an exploration in diversity.
People are my favorite subjects, verging on obsession, perhaps. I shoot with digital, BW film and occasionally slides, usually with any of several Nikon F cameras, mostly a D1x and most recently a Nikon D-700 (September 2008)
I still occasionally do my own darkroom work for BW, but do digital color prints on archival fine art paper for occasional exhibition. Some BW negatives have been digitized using a 4 Megapixel Nikon Coolpix 4500 with slide/negative adapter. Some of the newer scans are done with a Minolta Dimage 5400 scanner. Large prints for sale or exhibition are done on an Epson Stylus Pro 7800 with Ultrachrome K3 inks.
I hope I can convey to you some of the richness of what I've seen of life. Let me know if I have succeeded!
Eino,
September 2008
