This website is my playground. It was never intended to be a commercial site. Photos in this gallery span 40 years. Some are very good. Others may not catch a critical eye, but are, nevertheless, photos that are important to me.
My photography began simply in the early 60’s with a Yashica reflex camera and a Federal enlarger set up in the family fruit cellar. Having enjoyed many hours as a boy exploring rural fields in Michigan, much of my time is spent with outdoor and wildlife subjects. Natural phenomena dominate my work and serve as an extension of my personal interest in and need to connect with the natural world. But I’ve never limited myself. I enjoy a wide range of photographic interests, including working with the digital modification of photographs.
I seldom go anywhere without a camera. My photographs are frequently the product of serendipity. I collect images while walking without the burden of much equipment or rules. I seek images that speak to simplicity, life and natural beauty. Favorite images attempt to present interesting contrast of shapes, lines, light and colors.
Following early experiences as a professional photographer for 3 newspapers, producing portfolios for aspiring models, and photographing weddings, I made a commitment to preserve photography as an important avocation. I consider photography an art and avoid things that complicate its pleasures.
