Crop of blue channel of 14-bit 1Dmk3 ISO 100 RAW file, quantized to 12, 10, and 8 bits, and pushed to about ISO 3200. Values in 8-bit display are literal RAW linear values after subtracting the blackpoint from the RAW data. Before saving as a JPEG, I toggled PS' JPEG preview on and off several times, and could see no change at all in the image. Interpolated to 200% bicubic to make viewing easier and equalize display types (lose LCD sharpness).
