Today the excitement begins. We flew up to Bettles Lodge to start four days of touring to include a float plane trip to Kobuk Valley National Park and Gates of the Arctic National Park. It was about an hour flight in a Navajo Chieftan. We watched them load the airplane and noted that they were able to get a bunch of beer onboard in addition to all the other provisions destined for the Lodge. Once on the ground at Bettles we walked around, had a tour of the town (population 26 permanent residents). We met some interesting people and and had a very nice salmon dinner. Tomorrow is the float plane trip which is the main reason that we came here.
Today's photo is Ginny enjoying the ride in the airplane.
