These are my immediate relatives. Isoline Elvira Merrill is my father’s mother. I know there will be prices. That’s ok. I just would like the actual pictures (copies) and anything else you could have for my children. margaretcarney09@att.net. 😘❤️

I laughed til I cried reading "Guest" comments about the extreme nature of fishers. At 4am I was awakened by this blood-curdling noise (my aging senile cat outside on the deck, refusing to come in of course). Grabbed a flashlight and off in the woodland behind our home in Ct I spied movement and two beedy eyes. Did research and found your wonderful blog. Thank you for the info everyone, and for the humor.

We sighted a fisher in our back yard five times last winter. He or she had hole-up in our backyard and made regular visits. We've found some bird feathers there too.

While descriptions of the fisher almost always include the word "furtive", it seems to have lost any fear of mankind - probably since we've stopped shooting at it for the last 100 yrs.

Hi, Dan! In my search for info about fisher cats, I found your site. Awesome photos! Do you know if a fisher cat runs with its tail straight up in the air? I saw an animal like that running away from our yard about 1 a.m. the other night. I couldn't see his profile but it did appear his tail was standing straight up. If not a fisher cat, then what?

I've seen a fisher only once... I was standing in my driveway talking to a neighbor and it came barreling down the hill in a straight path, passed us about 7 ft. away, and continued racing down the hill. That was about noon one day--and they are supposed to be nocturnal. I wondered if it were rabid. We are in central Massachusetts. Thanks for any information you can share with me!

Dear Dan,
We came across your pictures by accident (actually, it was Gilley's cart that got us to you!) and I wondered, when I saw the name, if you once lived in Dover. Many years ago I taught at Woodman Park and well remember Dan Keefe, one of my second graders in a mixed 1-2-3 grade classroom. Could it be? If so, how is it that you're old enough to take such wonderful pictures and I haven't aged a day!! :-)

Dear Dan,

Thank you for the great picture you snapped of the fisher cat.
My son lives in Derry NH and has been told by neighbors of a fisher cat there that is getting people pet cats. I sent him a link to your site and photo so he would be able to put a "face" to the fisher cat (and quite a face that lil guy has!!)

Take care,
