The image _4A_0030.jpg really struck me. At first look someone could just blow by it, but it hit me, this one is possibly one of the most powerful images here. Very understated, but very powerful indeed. What am I talking about? During the aftermath of the hurricane Pat Robertson stated that God abbandoned New Orleans because of gay rights issues and abortion rights issues. He basically came out and said this is Gods rath because liberal stances on certain civil rights. Do you think its any coincident that help was not provided to them the way it was in New York? Who supports Bush? Now play in the doality of man and the look of the image. It's not a reverence the look on the images is rather one of dispare When Jesus was crusified it was his moment of dispare. With the damage on the painting it looks like his hands are bloodied. It's as if the figure of Jesus is asking Why? A statement that I am sure the person who lived in this distroyed building was also asking while in anguish. What was the reason for the city being destroyed? What was the cause of it's abandonment? Greed to start. The federal goverment down to city government was well aware of the nature of the levies and that there was no way the city would survive a direct hit by a hurricane. But instead of biting the bullet they took there chances. New Orleans is not the only city in serious jeopardy, Seatle alone is right in the middle of a major mud shoot from Mt. Ranier. A lot of the city is built on what was build up from the last mud slide. Now take into consideration that Greed is one of the deadly sins. How many times have we heard about New Orleans and its exploits with lust, gluttony, envy, murders on and on. You know me, I am not a religous soap boxer, but take all that into consideration with this image? Makes you think doesn't it? Could be the abandonment of Jesus in the image reflects a parallel with abandoment from the people of New Orleans and the federal government? Could it be that God did abandoned New Orleans and used this administration as the pawn to do it? Many many questions and for the strong of religous beleifs and those of us not so much so, to me it brings out a lot of questions and emotions. Is the blood on the hands of Jesus or is it really on the hands of our leaders and their greed?

Tim I had to break this up, but wanted to post this all. Tim, there are some very powerful images in your New Orleans Gallery! Not just the images of the power of nature, or fraility of man, but there are a few that strike true emotional context. IMG_1188.jpg catches emotions of frustration, anger not over the effects of the hurricane but to me expresses frustration and anger with the abondonment of human consideration and morality. IMG_1214.jpg brings to mind not just the human loss but also the needed self shielding needed by the searchers. The nature of the beast for search and rescue, do what you can but don't loose your self separation. But what really struck me was the flair of the handwriting the person who painted this put into it on the building. Makes me wonder, who writes "Possible Body" with casual flare and then walks away knowing someone is dead in there? What was that person thinking when they did it? Were the numb, indifferent, so indiferent they were laughing with others and went home to deal with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder? I have seen all these things in the work I used to do. It says more then just death to me. Tim Page 5 has 3 images that I just stared at. _5A_0031.jpg, _4A_0030.jpg and _8A_0034.jpg. Love Mom.... you know I have had a lot of conversations with people about photography being an art. Photojournalism is and ART! The purpose of art is to express, motivate, captivate and altimately affect the viewers or participants emotions. Love Mom... the teddy bear... how can someone not feel anything when they look at those, enough said. Bravo Cuz

Great photos! Like Tom said, is this your business? I love the photos! Please post more.
Beckey 01-Mar-2005 15:58
Hey Tim! These are great. You've obviously spent quite a bit of change on your camera and accessories. I really liked the Baltimore shots, because I'd never be brave enough to venture that way, so it gives me glimpses into what I'll never see.. THe tennis shots are great action photos and you've definitely got some incredible speed film to capture them so clearly. Now the concert ones..well, who the heck are those people anyhow?? Can't say that I've heard of any of them, and man.. that Buck guy... he's a looker ain't he?? Yikes. Take some photos of your trip back to the homeland, that will give a great view of what America is like too.. Make sure you take plenty of side steps along the way. I can't wait to see more, you're doing a fabulous job!!!

Tim, Is this a hobby or part of your profession? I enjoyed your pictures, especially the tennis ones.
